Leh City, for history & culture lovers are some must-see places like Leh Palace, seated atop a mountain; Shanti Stupa, perched on a mountain and is widely acclaimed; Leh Market, an ideal place for shopping in Ladakh; and the War Museum that gives you a detailed insight into the wars in India and the role of Indian Army. Around Leh also sit some of the most amazing places for sightseeing in Ladakh. The confluence of Indus and Zanskar rivers in Nimmu; the sacred Sikh gurudwara, Patthar Sahib; Magnetic Hill, known for its optical illusion; are some of the major places to visit for tourists.
Early morning board flight to Leh. Upon arrival at the Leh Airport and transferred to your hotel.
Since you are arriving at 11000 ft., we strongly recommend taking complete rest & drink ample water on the first day where you should not indulge yourself in any strenuous activity. Rest of the day is free to acclimatize to the high altitude of Leh. Dinner & Overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast, we will drive alongside bank of Indus river till Sangam, to witness the conflicts of Zanskar river and Indus River. Enroute we will be visiting Hall of Fame (which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia), Magnetic Hill (where the cars defy gravity) and Gurdwara Pathar Sahib. Later in the afternoon visit Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace. Return to your hotel & relax for the day. Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to visit Hemis Monastery situated 45km west of Leh; a largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, drive to Thiksey Monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the Indus valley. After that we continue to drive through series of chortens (Stupa) to visit Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Return back to hotel. Dinner & Overnight stay at the hotel.
